Last Minute Valentines Day Outfits

Hello Everyone!

*warning - terrible humour and lame references to love throughout*

Just because its Valentine's day tomorrow, it doesn't mean you are unprepared if you're still looking for something to wear.  Maybe you just haven't found "the one" yet.  I am a little bit of a hypocrite in saying this as I have had my outfit picked out for weeks.  What can I say?  It was fate.

For those of you who are curious as to what I'm wearing, it is this little number below.  I originally tried it on for fun when I was out shopping with a friend but it was too pretty to pass on.  The neck and shoulder details are so dainty and unlike anything I own so I immidiently had to have it.  I started pondering occasions I could wear it to so I could justify my purchase.  Valentine's Day!  I am going out for dinner in the evening and thought this would be perfect.

Take a look in Zara for it if you can - the pictures don't do it justification!

Zara Dress - £49.99

Anyway, on to the actual post.  I have created four outfits (I use the word outfits liberally - one doesn't really count, you'll see why) that hopefully inspire you and give you some ideas for Valentine's Day outfits no matter what you are doing.  A lot of these looks are easy to recreate so no worries if you don't have time to go out and buy something.  Have a rake in the back of your wardrobe,  I bet its like Narnia in there anyway.

1. The Sweetheart

River Island Top - £16
River Island Skirt - £35
New Look Heels - £17.99

The Sweetheart is very subtly romantic, the light pink of the skirt gives a dainty feel to the outfit which is oh so feminine.  This outfit is perfect for all occasions - even work!  I wanted to create a outfit for those busy souls who are going straight from work to their hot date and this is just perfect for that.  I can totally see myself wearing this with the blouse tucked in loosely and some pretty jewellery to jazz it all up.  LOVE it.

2. Black Heart

Topshop Top - £24
Topshop Jeans - £45
New Look Jacket - £34.99
New Look Boots - £19.99

For those of you who don't give a flying f*ck about Valentines or even for those who just want to play it cool this year, this outfit is perfect.  This is actually quite like what I wear on a day to day basis - I even own these boots.

I really like this outfit, I think it's very casual and trendy at the same time.  It's also a little nod to it being Valentine's without being covered in hearts and fuchsia shades all day.

3. Classy Cupid

River Island Dress - £55
H&M Sandals - £29.99
River Island Bag - £22

It's in the name.  This outfit is just so classy.  The dress is super stylish with the Bardot/Body-con fitting and the pretty pink.  To keep it nice and modern I've paired it with a pair of black sandal heels and a cute shoulder bag.

4.  For Those Nights In...

River Island Bra - £15
River Island Knickers - £8
This "outfit" is a little more grown up.  If you and your SO don't have plans, you could always dress down rather than up?  This pretty little set is enough to catch anyones eye.  Even if you are flying solo,  why not treat yo self?  We all know we feel better and more put together when we have pretty matching undies on - am I right ladies??  This set is also very reasonably priced considering most sets cost an arm and a leg these days.  Perfect if you and your boo are keeping it low key this year.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and I really hope it gave you some inspiration for creating your own Valentines Day outfit.  If it has send me a picture of your outfit on Twitter - I'd love to see your creations!

2015 Favourites

Hello Everyone!

It's been a while since my last post, but I'm determined to make 2016 the year of SubtleCoral.  I was a little rusty starting off again (proven by the swatch I attempted that resulted in lipstick all over my camera lens) but hey ho.  I thought it would be nice to round of last year with 5 of my 2015 favourites.  All of these products are items I discovered and fell in love with in 2015.

1.  Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit - Fair

I'm just going to get honest here.  I'm pale.  Extremely pale in fact.  It comes with the ginger gene.  When contouring first came on the scene, it wasn't something I was able to experiment with as no palettes or colours suited my skin tone.

This palette changes that.  The highlighting colours have given my dull eyes a new lease of life - who knew there was a colour lighter than my own foundation? The fair creme contour palette explores contour colours of a more ashy undertone, rather than orange based.  The fawn colour (bottom left in picture) is the perfect shade for defining those cheekbones without having an orange streak across your face that makes it look like you have drawn two carrots on your face.  All my pale girls raise your hands because this is perfect for you.  If you're worried about blending and working with creams, seriously don't be.  The creams are so easy to blend and apply flawlessly to the skin.  I use my real techniques sponge to blend everything in and I just love the way it looks.  Seriously love, love, love this palette.  It might be a bit of extra effort in the morning but I think for a special occasion it helps bring your makeup to life and lift your face - perfect for photo opportunities.  I wouldn't say I use it everyday as I quite like a natural look but I definitely miss it when I don't use it, which says a lot.

Victoria's Secret - Pure Seduction Body Spray

This is what I have smelt like for a large part of 2015.  Is that odd to say? Regardless, this red plum and freesia body spray is probably my favourite of the VS body mist range.  I love the fact it also has Aloe Vera in it, so it is very conditioning for the skin.  Its a very girly scent, but still very sexy.  Pretty much Victoria's Secret in a bottle.

Pro tip for you UK'ers who don't live near a VS shop, the website SecretSales often have Victoria's Secret Body on flash sale so keep your eyes peeled.  You're welcome.

Barry M Nail Polish - Ballerina

Simplistic.  That's what I like about this nail polish.  The pretty nude pink is perfect for any skin tone and occasion.  This colour just gives a very polished look without being too in your face.  I started working full time in 2015 and this is perfect for the office, but can also be rocked up for after work with a glitter topcoat or some funky rings.  I love how versatile it is.

Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation - Shade 007

First of all, having a shade 007 makes me feel James Bond cool so one point to Lancôme.  The story to how I came across this foundation is a sad one - with a happy ending don't worry.  MaxFactor discontinued my beloved CC cream (BOO!).  Or at least I can't find it in any drugstore anymore and its out of stock constantly online.  I had been using the CC cream for a good few years and after the realisation it was gone I began a search for a replacement.

I started in drugstores but I've always struggled to get my skin colour in drugstore makeup brands.  For some reason they seem to be considerably more orange. I knew I was going to have to bump up my budget a little if I wanted a perfect match.

I strolled along to the premium counters and right enough I had much more variety for shades there.  I looked at many before picking this one up.  I hadn't done any research prior which made me slightly uncomfortable at making such a large purchase on a whim (it was more than 3x what I paid for my CC cream).  I figured it had everything I wanted - bare skin look, SPF, reflecting natural light - so I just thought what the heck.  Luckily all turned out well and I have been loving this foundation.  I haven't really noticed much of a difference moving from CC cream to foundation other than blending time.  The foundation needs worked into the skin a little more but still feels really light to wear which I'm happy about.

Whether I'll stick with this or try something else I'm unsure about, but at least I know it exists and its there for me - unlike the CC cream *cry*.

*not fully blended, just a sploge on my wrist to show paleness*

MAC Lipstick - Velvet Teddy

Would this even be a SubtleCoral post without a MAC lipstick? Probably not.  Better add one to be sure.

In all seriousness I love this lipstick.  It feels very velvety on the lips (sticking to the name I guess) and it applies so creamy and smooth.  The colour is gorgeous, a mix of nudes, pinks and a slight coral tone.  Think Kinda Sexy but pinker.  A very pretty lipstick for everyday wear, but it also complements dramatic eyes perfectly.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, let me know your 2015 favourites in the comments and who knows, maybe they'll end up in my 2016 favourites!

Valentine's Day 101

Hey Everyone!

Hope you are all well.  Today I thought I'd look into everything Valentines for 2015.  There's no denying that the date is fast approaching and whether you are single or in a relationship, its only right to treat the ones you love on Valentines Day.

I'm going to cover everything from cards, to gifts, to decorations so be prepared for the red and pink and numerous hearts flying your way (oh and don't forget about the sarcastic few).

1. Found on Etsy here this simplistic card highlights the real meaning of love.

2. For the couple that isn't struck on Valentines this card, also found on Etsy, gives a slight acknowledgement of the day without being OTT while still being irresistibly cute.

1. With the new 50 Shades of Grey movie coming out on Valentines Day this year, how about buying your loved one this funny "50 Shades of Earl Grey" mug, found at Paperchase.

2.  Also found at Paperchase this cute bunting could be the perfect decoration/gift for Valentines this year.  I love bunting in general but this one is just adorable.

3. This confetti-filled balloon would be the perfect way to surprise a loved one at work or at home this Valentines Day.

4. If you're not a fan of the all out Valentines Day gifts, or even just fancy a little treat to yourself this Cath Kidston mug is perfect!  You could even fill it with your other half's favourite sweets or biscuits.

5. If you are keen to make/bake something this Valentines Day, I highly recommend searching Pinterest as there are so many recipes on there.  I particularly liked this easy chocolate covered strawberries recipe by A Spicy Perspective, so go and check it out if you want to make the strawberries below!

I hope you all enjoyed this short post and gained some inspiration from it and are looking forward to Valentines Day.  I know some people dread it, but really its just a day to have fun! If you have no plans, make some!  Even if it is a romantic night in with Netflix and a takeaway pizza, enjoy yourself.

Winter Wedding Inspiration With Weddington Way

Hey Everyone!

I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit of a wedding fanatic. I can spend hours browsing different Pinterest boards and searching through pictures of new ideahos. Weddings are such a big day in everyone's life, and there's so many different ways to create and enjoy them.  They can be tailored so beautifully to suit the bride and grooms personalities, I just don't see a reason to dislike weddings!

I created a Winter Wonderland Bridesmaid look based this bridesmaids dress by Weddington Way. I chose this dress because the classic style can suit a wide variety of body shapes and the colour is perfectly cozy for a winter wedding.  Pop over to Weddington Way to view all their bridesmaid dresses!

After I seen this dress, the Winter Wonderland ideas started to flow.  I eventually decided on the hair and make up look.  The two hair looks I chose both incorporated baby's breath into the styles, as featured in the bouquets.  I think baby's breath gives such a nice touch and looks especially lovely in winter against the snow.  I stuck to neutral tones when selecting the makeup - we don't want too much attention being taken away from the bride - because it accentuated the colour of the dress I choose.  The shoes (also neutral) added a special touch with the featured bows that would suit any foot.  Simplistic nails added a touch of glamour with the golden glitter and a mixed metal necklace also added a dainty effect to the look.  Finally an optional addition would be the faux fur wrap to keep the Bridesmaids cozy as they step through the Winter Wonderland Wedding.

I also got a bit carried away when creating this look and added in a few decorations that might also suit the wedding style based on this Winter Wonderland Bridesmaid Look.  One thing that stood out was the particularly handy (excuse the pun) wedding favours gloves for your guests on the chilly day.  Also the snuggle blankets, because well...who doesn't like a good snuggle?

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and thank you ever so much for reading. I will speak to you all very soon with more exciting posts!

Hey Everyone!

In my last blog post I talked about gift ideas for other people, now I want to talk about gift ideas for you and me!  Every year I get friends and family asking me what I want for Christmas and I always get a little bit stuck with my reply.  Don't ask me what I want and I could ask you for a million things but put me on the spot...and I'm blank.  This is why I normally write a list every year.

When I heard about the #NextmasWishlist competition I thought it would be a great idea to write a post about it, plus it gives you guys a chance to win things as well! Basically what you have to do is write a blog post with your Next Christmas Wishlist and upload it to the Next blogger noticeboard.  Then tweet +Nextofficial and use the #Nextmaswishlist in your tweet and you could win something from your list!

I thought I'd give my entry a go but don't worry theres 5 winners so you can still be in with a good chance of a Christmas gift from Next too.  I'm hoping you might get some gift idea for either yourself or someone else from this post too.  Now lets get into my list...

1. Gingerbread Jersey Sweater

Okay come on, how cute is this little guy.  I seen this festive jumper in store the other week and I just loved him! He looks so festive with his little Santa hat and candy cane.  Too cute.  I would definitely wear this Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Get this cutie here at Next

2. Positivity Canvas

I am such a fan of this.  It's so beautiful to look at and beautiful to read.   I think it's so true as well that one small positive though can indeed change your day.  I think this would be a lovely feature piece in any room.

Up your positive thinking here

3. Baby It's Cold Outside Pyjamas

Baby it's cold outside was one of the first songs I added to my Christmas playlist on Spotify this year.  I love these pyjamas as they are so soft, bright and cozy.  I only noticed when I looked real close that the leggings have little stars on them.  Adorable

4. Sequin Party Dress

Now I wouldn't expect to win this at all due to its high price but I couldn't not include this in my wish list.  LOOK AT THIS DRESS.  Imagine rocking up to your Christmas/New Years party in this beauty.  Emoji heart eyes.....

5. Dog Cushion

Now this last gift is not for me, but we just got a new puppy not too long ago.  His name is Marvin and he's 3 and a half months old.  He is a Shih Tzu x Jack Russell and he is quickly becoming such a massive part of our lives.  Anyway, he loves sitting in the kitchen while we are cooking so we put a regular bed pillow down for him and he just sits and watches.  I would love to get him something like this to put in the kitchen for him to rest on.  Also had to had a few pictures of Marvin...

I hope you all enjoyed this post and have seen something you like.  Give the #Nextmaswishlist competition a go and you might be lucky. Good luck to everyone !

Christmas Gift Ideas

Hey Everyone!

Since Christmas is vastly approaching, we all need to be prepared.  I've been embarrassingly organised this year when it comes to gift giving and wrapping.  I must have finished shopping about four weeks ago...

For those of you who struggle when it comes to buying presents and finding the right gift, I've found a few ideas that would suit different personalities.

The Girly Girl

1. YSL Teint Touche Eclat Rose Gold Primer

I think this primer looks so lovely and luxurious.  I'm yet to try it myself but have it on my own Christmas wish list.  This is the perfect gift to buy for any girly girl as primer can be used on its own (for example, my Mum doesn't wear foundation but I know she would still use this alone), or can be used under makeup.  Its slightly pricy at £30.50 but if you're just buying this as a single gift I think its perfect.

Buy at Boots here

2. Ciaté Tree Trinkets

For a slightly smaller stocking filler these Tree Trinkets are adorable.  A little extra decoration for your tree and a little sparkle for your nails.  I'm almost 100% sure that Ciaté done these last Christmas but you can hardly blame them for bringing them out again this year as they really do make a lovely little gift retailing at £8 each.

Grab yours at ASOS here

The Gadget Guru

1. Smartphone Projector

This little projector allows you to convert your small smartphone into a large projection picture!  I think this idea is so cool and cute.  I would love to curl up on a cold night and project a movie onto the wall and feel so retro.  This is perfect for those who love novelty accessories for their gadgets and is available at £15.95.

Smartphone Projector - Available at Not On The High Street

2. Apple Juice Home Charger

This is more novelty headed for gadget lovers.  Apple Juice.  Get it.  An iPhone charger that gives your phone the juice it needs to run in a lovely carton.  Don't worry if your Gadget buddy doesn't have an iPhone as there are different juices available for different makes.  The only difference is the pun doesn't really make sense.  For £9.95 it's not a bad deal.

Apple Juice - Available at John Lewis

The Book Lover

1. Classic Book Cover Diary

These diaries for 2015 make a lovely gift for book lovers.  With the option of ten classic covers, I'm sure you'd be able to find a favourite for your recipient.  My personal favourite is the Great Gatsby cover.  These diaries are available from £16.95.

Find these at Not On The High Street

2. Once Upon A Time Bookmark

This makes an adorable little gift for those who love to read.  I would have this myself as a decoration just to stick out of a book and appear elegantly.  This is on sale for £10 and is available in different varieties.

Also available from Not On The High Street

The Food Fanatics

1. Cottage Delight - Steak Night In

For those who love to try and experiment in the kitchen or even just love home cooked meals, these little sets are fantastic.  There is a variety of options available from curries to thai so there is something to suit all taste pallets.  I personally love the idea of the steak one as I can be quite fussy when it comes to foods so sticking to classics is a must for me.  This steak set is on sale for £16 at John Lewis.

Get your hands on it here

2. Festive Cheer Hamper

There's nothing like a classic hamper to bring the spirt of Christmas alive.  This one is particular is festive by bringing in Christmas Day classics, from the soup to the cake, Marks and Spencers got this one right.  This hamper retails for £30.

Get your hamper on

The Sporty Spice ( Or Just The Sporty)

1. Personalised Referee Whistle

If I knew my Dad wouldn't blow the roof of with this thing, I would probably get him one.  Perfect for those who shout and scream at the TV and yell "COME ON REF, ARE YOU BLIND?!".

Find this at Getting Personal

2. Mini Foosball Table

I know the majority of us would love to get a full sized one of these for the sports fan in our lives, but the reality is that they are pretty pricy.  Until you win the lottery, why not settle for this mini table top version?  Still as much fun.

Find these foosball tables at Sports Direct

Hopefully you've managed to find a gift that suits someone in your life or even just got a few ideas from this post.  Let me know in the comments what presents your buying this Christmas and what you're hoping to receive.

May Favourites

Hey Everyone!

Well it's definitely been a while since my last post, but since college is now over and I'm free from education for summer, I thought 'why not get back into blogging?', and what better way than to start with a favourites post??

During the month of May I rediscovered a few old favourites of mine, as well as started loving some new products.

My first favourite of May is the Naked palette.  I realise pretty much everyone has this already but I just received it as a gift from my boyfriend a few weeks ago.  I had wanted it since it came out but never purchased it.  Now that I've got it, I only wish I purchased it sooner.  Each colour is so pigmented and the quality of the eyeshadows is pretty perfect.  They last all day without any creasing and are also easily removed with makeup wipes (no nasty scrubbing of your eyes required).  My favourite colours in the palette are Virgin, Sin, Sidecar, Half Baked, Smog and Toasted.

My second favourite of May has been my Effaclar Duo cream by La Roche-Posay.  This was a brand I was only slightly familiar with before trying out.  After trying this, I'm wanting to try the whole range!  Every time I use this cream I notice a difference in my skin.  The cream is designed to deal with imperfections in the skin, from spots to redness.  If I use this cream everyday (like I have been) I notice a reduction in the number of spots, especially large angry ones!  I hardly get them at all when I use this cream.  I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their skin.

Another favourite of mine falls was release on the last day of May (so it just makes the cut for this post) but I fell in love with it the day I bought it.  The new Benefit tinted balms.  I purchased Posiebalm, and already have my eyes on the rest of the range.  The colour is sheer but provides a lovely light colour for the warm months.  Its also super moisturising and feels really good on the lips, so I can definitely see my wearing these in the colder months too.

I've also been wearing MaxFactor's False Lash Effect mascara a lot recently.  I bought this after trying to find a replacement for Covergirls Lash Blast Fusion.  Turns out these two are exactly the same.  I love that it's big thick brush that gives your lashes a full look without being clumpy or 'spider-leggy'.  This is my go-to mascara now!

A further favourite of mine has been Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle Velvet Body Oil.  This is such a lovely scented body oil and just smells like fresh flowers - absolutely perfect for Spring/Summer.  The oil is very moisturising and doesn't leave your skin slippy as it dries in fairly quickly.  It leaves your skin smelling gorgeous for ages.  I wouldn't quite say this is a necessity but it is lovely if you fancy spoiling yourself!

I hope you all enjoyed this favourites post, I do realise we are half way through June but I thought I would do a May favourites anyway!
